About the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System
During 2019, the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System accepted submissions as part of its public consultation process about this important healthcare sector.
This provided an opportunity to have your say about how Victoria supports older people with a mental illness.
Whether you are living with mental illness, caring for a loved one, working in the sector or just have a general interest in mental health – the Commission set out to hear views and ideas for change.
Every contribution has helped inform the Commission’s reports.
Submissions closed 5 July 2019.
Ms Penny Armytage, chair of the Royal Commission, has played a leading role in major health and human service sector reform. She recently served as the Chair of the Transport Accident Commission and the President of Berry Street.
The other members of the Royal Commission are Dr Alex Cockram, Professor Allan Fels AO and Professor Bernadette McSherry.
The Victorian Government has committed to implementing all of the Royal Commission’s recommendations.
The Commission will deliver its preliminary report by 30 November 2019 and its final report in October 2020.
