Ageing is everyone’s business – a report on social isolation and loneliness among senior Victorians
A key role of the Commissioner for Senior Victorians is to advise and report to the Victorian Government on priority policy issues affecting senior Victorians.
In 2015, the Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing, requested consideration of the issue of loneliness and isolation of older people, including the role of volunteering in addressing this.

In April 2016, the Minister launched the Commissioner’s report, Ageing is everyone's business, noting that the Commissioner has identified a significant issue for our ageing population.

Gerard Mansour was the inaugural Commissioner for Senior Victorians and Ambassador for Elder Abuse Prevention. He served in this role from 2013 to 2023. The role of the Commissioner for Senior Victorians will not be reappointed. The department will continue the former Commissioner’s work.
