About Digital Cards

Getting a digital card is a choice. They are optional – cardholders can continue to use physical plastic cards if they prefer.

What is a digital Seniors Card or digital Senior Business Discount Card?

A digital Seniors Card or digital Seniors Business Discount Card is a digital version of your physical plastic card, which you keep on your smartphone. You can store, show, and verify your digital card in the in the digital wallet called ‘My wallet’ in your Service Victoria app. It's a secure and easy way to use your government issued card.

What is ‘My wallet’?

‘My wallet’ is in the Service Victoria app. You’ll find it at the bottom of the home screen when you open the app. It’s a digital wallet where you can keep government-issued digital cards, licences and permits.

You’ll need a Service Victoria account to use ‘My wallet’ and manage your digital cards.
If you don’t have a Service Victoria account, create one in the Service Victoria app or online at service.vic.gov.au/accountExternal Link . It’s free and takes less than five minutes.

Who is Service Victoria?

Service Victoria is a Victorian Government agency. The Service Victoria app and website make it easy for Victorians to get things done online with the Victorian government. Many Victorians may already be familiar with the Service Victoria app because you can access more than 130 government services through the app. It was also used for QR check in and to storeCOVID-19 vaccination certificates.

What if I don’t want to get a digital card?

It is your choice – cardholders can continue to use physical plastic cards if they prefer.

You can have a physical plastic card or digital card or both – whichever option is best for you. Both physical plastic cards and digital cards provide cardholders the same benefits and discounts.

I don’t have a Seniors Card or Seniors Business Discount Card yet, but I am eligible. What do I do?

Visit apply for a card for information about how to apply. You can choose to apply for a digital or physical plastic card.

I am about to apply for my first Seniors Card. Do I have to get a digital card or a physical plastic card?

You can choose a plastic or digital card – whichever option is best for you.
It is okay if you do not want a digital card – physical plastic cards can still be used.
Both physical plastic cards and digital cards provide cardholders the same benefits and discounts.

Can I have both a digital card and a physical plastic card?

Yes, you can have both a digital and physical plastic card.

Both physical plastic cards and digital cards provide cardholders the same range of benefits and discounts.

How do I apply for a digital card if I have never had a physical plastic card?

When you apply for a Seniors Card using the online application form, you will get an approval email from the Victorian Seniors Card Program. This email will include your card number, which you can use to add a digital card to your Service Victoria app.

When can I use my digital card?

You can use your digital card the same way you use your physical plastic card to get the same discounts and other benefits.

How much does a digital Seniors Card or digital Seniors Business Discount Card cost?

Nothing.

The digital Seniors Card and digital Seniors Business Discount Card are free.

The physical plastic Seniors Card and Seniors Business Discount Card are also free.

Can I get a digital card on my Apple or Android phone?

Yes, you can add the Service Victoria app to either an iPhone or Android phone, then add your digital card.

Who else can see my digital Seniors Card or digital Seniors Business Discount Card?

You choose who sees your digital card. No one can see your digital card unless you show them. It’s securely stored in the ‘My wallet’ section of the Service Victoria app on your phone. You will need to show your digital card or your physical plastic card to get discounts and benefits at participating businesses.
