Event details

Burndap Birrarung, burndap urmarkoo - what’s good for the Yarra is good for all. How do you like to keep your body moving and connected to Nature?

Have you ever thought about practicing Tai Chi along the banks of the Birrarung (Yarra River)?

Just like a river, our bodies need constant movement and flow of energy to maintain health and wellbeing. Engaging in practices that promote balance, flexibility, and mental clarity can help us keep our bodies healthy, especially as we age.

Connecting with the outdoors and being near a healthy Birrarung also allows us to embrace local seasons and feel a deeper sense of connection to our community.

So, as part of Victorian Seniors Festival 2025, the City of Yarra and Regeneration Projects are teaming up with a qualified Tai Chi teacher to host a special community event for seniors!

Vegetarian Bahn Mi (with GF and nut-free options) will be provided with drinks.

What to bring? Water bottle, comfortable walking shoes and clothes for Melbourne’s ‘all seasons in one day’ weather!

Indicative program:

  • Arrivals at Collingwood Children’s Farm and walking to a sheltered space
  • Part 1: Tai Chi session
  • Part 2: Bahn Mi lunch and conversations
  • Part 3: Activities about making the Yarra River/Birrarung swimmable

Accessibility Notice: The Tai Chi event will be held at the Collingwood Children’s Farm marquee, accessed via a wide dirt path with some incline. This may be challenging for attendees with mobility issues. Please assess your ability to manage the walk before registering.

Lunch will be provided.
