Event overview
Event details
Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne is both the setting and catalyst for Design X Nature. It's an outdoor exhibition of artworks exploring how natural systems can inform:
- creative practice
- material experimentation
- ecological thinking.
The commissions in Design X Nature were developed in a research lab residency at the Gardens in 2025. Artists, designers and experts from the Gardens from various disciplines met and explored nature-led design.
Artworks are located on the lawns in the Australian Drylands and feature new works by:
- Courtney Coombs
- Cara Johnson
- Bethany Kiss
- Soft Meadow Collective.
Australian Drylands is also part of Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Design X Nature: Exhibition also has walks, talks and workshops. All explore the creative possibilities of the natural world. All are set amongst stunning native flowering meadows.
The artworks can be seen from the main pathway. The area is grass and has gentle inclines.
Enter the Australian Drylands area via the Domain Road gate at the southeast corner of the Gardens.
