Design x Nature: Pastures by Cara Johnson

Visit artist Cara Johnson and her sculptural installation Pastures. Pastures transforms a farm hay cradle into a place of care and comfort. Johnson will fill the cradle with hand-sewn pillows. The pillows are:

• made from reclaimed wool bale sacks
• stitched together using salvaged agricultural materials
• stuffed with grass clippings from the Royal Botanic Gardens – Victoria.

The pillows reflect how cultivated gardens and agricultural landscapes are connected. And the care required to sustain both.

This event is wheelchair accessible.

Cara Johnson will be on a grass area with gentle inclines near the Pastures artwork.

There are mats, cushions and stools for audiences to sit on.

Pastures is part of the Design X Nature exhibition.
