Event details

Back by popular demand, Castlemaine Community House is hosting another 'Cooking for blokes' as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival! Why not learn to cook for yourself, improvise with what you have, and use seasonal produce to prepare nutritious meals.

Join this practical four-week course designed to help men build everyday cooking skills and gain confidence in the kitchen. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or just want more go-to recipes for quick, easy meals, this course will teach you how to adapt recipes and plan nutritious meals and get creative with seasonal produce on a budget.

Topics may include food safety, healthy eating, cooking with eggs, one-pot dishes including soups and stews and making the most out of a bounty of fruit. Learn tips and tricks to make cooking enjoyable and stress-free, no matter your skill level.

This course is delivered by local chef Alex Perry, a born-and-bred Castlemainian with extensive experience in a variety of kitchen settings. His latest venture, Bar Midland, is known for sourcing ingredients from local producers and creating inventive recipes that make the most of seasonal produce.

Tea and coffee-making facilities provided. The room used for this session, and toilets, are wheelchair and low mobility accessible. However, we recommend anyone with accessibility needs contact Castlemaine Community House to discuss their requirements.
