Garryowen's Melbourne Exhibition is now on at the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.

The Royal Historical Society of Victoria is hosting an exhibition titled "Garryowen's Melbourne" from now until March 2024. Garryowen’s Melbourne brings to life many of the characters and buildings in early Melbourne. The exhibition incorporates lively descriptions taken from Garryowen’s (Edmund Finn’s) “Chronicles of Early Melbourne: historical, anecdotal and personal 1835 to 1852” published in 1888 set alongside images from the collection of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria (RHSV).

The exhibition is open to the public from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, at the RHSV located at 239 A'Beckett Street, Melbourne.

The venue, a heritage-listed Drill Hall, is situated near the Queen Victoria Market and Flagstaff Station, providing easy access for visitors.

Founded in 1909, the Royal Historical Society of Victoria operates as Victoria's largest historical society and a peak body for around 350 affiliated societies. It is an active not-for-profit, membership-based organisation with a significant collection of Victorian history.

The organisation manage a range of activities including a bookshop, public events, an exhibition gallery, the Victorian Community History Awards, History Month, Holsworth grants, seminars and workshops, and the publication of various books, journals and newsletters.The organisation supports both private and commercial research.
