The new Senior Victorians Advisory Committee will reflect the diversity of older Victorians and provide advice on the needs and rights of older Victorians and inform related government priorities and programs, including the implementation of the Ageing Well Action .
The Ageing Well Action Plan 2022-2026 outlines 24 actions to support all Victorians to age well, as they participate in their communities, connect socially and live healthy, active, and purposeful lives.
About the Committee
Almost 1.5 million Victorians are 60 years or over – that’s 22 per cent of our state’s population. Our state’s older population is growing faster than any other age group.
The Committee will enable older people to provide advice on priorities, challenges facing older Victorians and emerging issues, in a space that is exclusively dedicated to them.
The Committee will focus on:
- providing a community voice to government through highlighting the lived experiences of issues impacting older Victorians
- raising awareness of the positive contributions and meaningful participation of older people in social, economic, cultural and community life
- promoting rights and respect for older people.
The Committee will have a Chairperson and up to 12 members reflecting the diversity of older Victorians. The Committee will include up to eight community members and up to four sector members to ensure a wide range of experiences on the Committee.

Expressions of interest are now open to people 60 years and over, and First Nations people 50 years and over, who would like to share their views and make a difference.
