The Daryl McKenzie Swing Band will perform a mix of music for ballroom, swing, jazz and Latin dance styles.
This group is led by renowned composer and arranger Daryl McKenzie. It also includes former members of the Victoria Police Band. This mix creates the ideal soundtrack for social dancing, nostalgia and live music.
Ballroom DJ Geoffrey Proctor will join us to showcase music for sequence dance.
This event is for everyone who loves to dance, regardless of skill. If you’d prefer to sit and listen, these classic dance songs can be enjoyed from the gallery seating too.
Dressing rooms are not available onsite. We recommend you come ready to dance! Water will be provided and attendees are welcome to bring a small snack to enjoy during the event.

Doors open at 11:15 am. Bookings are essential.

Victorian Seniors Card holders can enjoy 9 days of free public transport across Victoria from 3 to 11 October 2026. This includes all metropolitan public transport services, V/Line train and coach services, and selected regional bus services outside the myki area.
With trains and trams right beside Melbourne Town Hall, public transport is the best way to get to the Big Band Dance event.
When exiting Town Hall Station, please head to the Collins Street exit.
Reservations are available on most long-distance V/Line trains and some coaches. To book a seat on reserved V/Line services, visit your nearest staffed station or agent or call 1800 800 007.
