“I cannot determine what to do about my new gown….am so tired and ashamed of my present stock, that I even blush at the sight of the wardrobe which contains them” JA 1798
For this special event, accomplished actress Lise Rodgers will share her collection of historical costumes to discuss and explore the art of Georgian dress and demonstrate how garments were worn.
Using the letters of Jane Austen, some historical background and opinions of the day, guests will step through the doors of a Georgian wardrobe, to a world of white muslin, satin, and silk. Experience getting dressed with Jane - from the underwear to the outerwear and beyond! Lise Rodgers is an accomplished Melbourne actress.
Her career has spanned stage, screen and radio including productions with The Melbourne Theatre Company and Playbox, TV classics such as Prisoner and Neighbours and the 2017 remake of Picnic at Hanging Rock. As an award-winning narrator of audiobooks, Lise enjoys exploring language and has a particular love of Spoken Word performance.
An interest in the world and characters of Jane Austen is the inspiration behind her series of Jane performances.
Your ticket includes tea or Market Lane coffee served before the presentation, and time to browse our exclusive range of books, gifts, and homewares at TJC Emporium.
