Do you know an outstanding older Victorian who deserves recognition? Nominations for the 2024 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards are closing soon.

For more than 30 years, these important awards have celebrated the contributions and achievements of older Victorians who volunteer their skills, experiences, time and energy for our community.

How to make a nomination

To nominate someone for an award, complete an online nomination at the Awards webpage.

People in Victoria who are 60 years or over, and First Nations people who are 50 years or over, who volunteer their time are eligible to be nominated for these awards.

The Victorian Senior of the Year Awards include six award categories:

  • Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year
  • Promotion of Multiculturalism Award
  • Healthy and Active Living Award
  • Veteran Community Award
  • Ageing Well Award
  • COTA (Council on the Ageing) Victoria Senior Achiever Awards.

If you know an older Victorian who makes an important contribution to the community, now is the time to recognise their efforts and nominate them for an award.

Meet our 2023 awardees

Nineteen older Victorians received an award in 2023. Their community contributions spanned:

  • volunteering with vital emergency services and community groups
  • raising funds for worthy causes
  • supporting cultural connections
  • organising social and sports activities.

The 2023 awards were presented at Government House on Wednesday 11 October 2023. Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC hosted the event.
