The Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades program is no longer accepting applications. If you currently have a rebate token, it is valid until 30 April 2023. You must accept a quote from an approved supplier before this date. For more information, visit the Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades .
This program is for owner-occupier household with an approved concession card, or with a combined household income of less than $90,000.
This program is supporting people to replace an existing gas, fixed electric or wood heating or no heating with an energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner from the approved products list.
The Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades Program will support 250,000 low-income households in Victoria to upgrade their home energy systems over the next three years.
Older heating and cooling systems can be expensive to run, inefficient and unsafe. Reverse cycle split systems are energy efficient and provide households with thermal comfort throughout the year by keeping homes warm in winter and cool in summer. Households who upgrade will lower their greenhouse gas emissions and save up to $300 a year on their energy bills.
Under the program, eligible households can receive:
- $1000 towards the cost of an energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner,
- $200 towards the cost of decommissioning their outdated gas heater (if an existing gas heater is being replaced), and
- $500 towards the cost of upgrading their switchboard (if an upgrade is required to install the rebated reverse-cycle air conditioner).
