Summer is a great time for fresh produce and eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, but food poisoning is also more common in summer than at any other time of the year.
Food poisoning can cause vomiting and diarrhea and can be serious for unborn babies, young children, older people, and people with conditions that weaken their immune systems. However, food that is prepared, handled and stored safely is also fresher, tastier and more nutritious.
