Victorian Seniors Festival reimagined - Week 26 welcome from our hosts

Week 26: Joy

This week, the theme is joy, and to share the joy we're talking to U3A Zumba enthusiast Paulina Chong, actor, director and circus performer Nicci Wilks and the world's only 'Unusualist', Raymond Crowe.

Week 26: Joy

When the Nanjing Acrobatic troupe came to town, it changed Nicci Wilks’ life forever. Her career began in high school, when she joined the Flying Fruit Fly Circus. She has gone on to perform for the King of Thailand, kids on the Pitjantjatjara lands and on 42nd Street.

Week 26: Joy

Paulina Chong’s aim for the senior participants of her Zumba fitness dance classes is for them to ‘have fun with moves that will get their adrenaline pumping’. If seniors in her Zumba fitness dance classes are concentrating too hard on perfecting their technique, she urges them to just enjoy moving to the beat of the music.

Week 26: Joy

A good magician never reveals their secrets, so Raymond Crowe counts himself lucky he was fortunate to find a number of mentors to assist him on his journey to become Australia’s only ‘Unusualist’ – a master of hand shadow puppets, ventriloquism, physical comedy and illusion.

‘I can remember doing a trick in Grade 3 and the teacher pulling me aside afterwards asking me to explain how I did it.’
