In some great news for Regional Victorian - the Australian Camps Association Great Getaways now servicing the Ballarat Region.

Over 55s on a river camp

The Australian Camps Association (ACA) has been running “Great Getaways”, an outdoor program for over 55’s since 2017. In that time, hundreds of older adults have enjoyed their time away meeting like-minded people. All participants are over 55 years of age, with the oldest participant to date being a spritely 83.

The Great Getaways provide a wonderful opportunity for people looking to have a go at outdoor activities such as abseiling, rock climbing, hiking, high ropes and canoeing in a fun and supportive environment. However, it’s not all ‘go, go, go’ – there's always time for a chat and for slower-paced activities like evening presentations, group games and more.

The Australian Camps Association is now thrilled to announce the establishment of a Ballarat based team, led by Simon Milligan, which has been set up to help people from regional Victoria attend the Getaways locally.

Spending time outdoors is good for our health as is being well socially connected. The Great Getaways have seen many new friendship groups established, in fact, many participants take part in the Great Getaways on a regular basis.

How long has it been since you’ve ridden a bike, pushed your own boundaries and spent time outdoors? Perhaps it’s time you went on a Great Getaway.
