It’s always a pleasure to visit our Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s Melbourne and Cranbourne Gardens, but now there are even more reasons to visit thanks to their innovative ‘Branch Out’ program for Seniors.
Branch Out offers a range of exciting events and guided tours designed to appeal to Victorian seniors as well as visitors from regional Victoria, interstate and overseas for the remainder of 2019.
And it’s not just green thumbs that are in for a feast of sights, sounds, smells and even tastes. The program offers a broad range of activities that simply require a passing interest in the flora wonders that nature can create.
A (really) diverse program
Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria’s Director and Chief Executive Professor Tim Entwisle agrees his team has worked hard to appeal to seniors across the board.
‘Between guided walks, mindfulness exercises, exquisite music and even an exploration of gin botanicals, I’m sure everyone will find something to their taste’, he said.
‘Connecting with nature can also have a powerful impact on health and wellbeing. The programs in Branch Out give you the chance to experience the incredible Melbourne and Cranbourne Gardens along with special access to some of the country’s finest horticulturalists and plant researchers.’
Music, art and even gin tasting
Some of the more notable events include a program of Harp Meditations on 13 June in Melbourne, an exhibition of three dimensional sculptured works called Paper Landscapes in Cranbourne on July 23rd and a gin discovery and tasting on December 10th.
There are also some surprise events that will form part of the Victorian Seniors Festival October 7th to 11th.
