Victorian Seniors Festival

The Victorian Seniors Festival is an annual celebration for older Victorians. Hundreds of free or low-cost events take place across Victoria. Eight days of free public transport are also provided for Victorian Seniors Card holders.
The festival is run by the Victorian Government and supported by many community organisations and business sponsors.
2012 Festival dates
In 2012 the Festival will celebrate its 30th birthday and will run from 7 October to 14 October 2012. The Festival Program will list events that take place in greater Melbourne and regional Victoria throughout October.
How to participate in the 2012 Festival
List an event in the 2012 Program
250,000 copies of the Festival Program will be distributed from August 2012.
The Program will provide details about events produced by the Festival. It will also contain a selection of events put on by community and commercial organisations. Events can be submitted online from May 2012.
If you would like to be advised when you can submit event for listing, contact Seniors Online at seniorsonline@health.vic.gov.au. You will be placed on the database to receive this information.

If you are interested in performing at an event produced by the Festival, email Seniors Online at seniorsonline@health.vic.gov.au with contact details and information about your act. Programming decisions will be made during February to April 2012.
The 2011 Victorian Seniors Festival
The 2011 Victorian Seniors Festival ran from 2 October to 9 October 2011. Additional regional and suburban activities took place throughout October.
The Festival was a great success. More than 1,500 events were held across Victoria for over 140,000 older Victorians.
The Festival's major partners, Victoria's 79 local councils, put on more than 1,000 events including dances, writing and photography workshops, burlesque classes, archery, community arts exhibitions and performances, aqua aerobics, social walks and bushwalks, and internet and social media sessions.
Main events included Opening Day at Federation Square, the Festival Hub and Concerts at Melbourne Town Hall, a State Trustees Country Concert Series, a flood affected areas Theatre and Music Tour, beyondblue Open Door Bowls Days, the Veterans Golf Classic, Mind Body and Soul at Fitzroy Gardens and the Great Debate at BMW Edge.
